“My first semester at NC State has been an amazing experience. I’ve been able to meet so many new friends and build great connections across campus.
One of the biggest highlights for me was officially settling on Mechanical Engineering as my major. I’ve stayed very busy within different communities on campus that have helped me through my decisions, specifically through my involvement with SHPE (Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers) and the WISE (Women in Science and Engineering) program. I am currently a mentee in WISE and SHPE, hoping to be a mentor next school year in WISE so I can help new students the same as mine did for me.
I’ve also been able to keep up with my musical hobbies. I was accepted into the Raleigh Civic Symphony, which has been my favorite way to balance my workload. I dedicated the first semester to learning how to manage social and academic aspects of college, which makes me so grateful for this scholarship. It allowed me to truly focus on this transition and get involved in these organizations without the added stress of fitting in a job.
I’m excited to expand my involvement this spring. I’m planning to join the High Powered Rocketry team to get some engineering experience and will also be joining Key Club.
Thank you again for your support and kindness.”
